Card Count Off? Fixing Metering Errors on Your Card Line
One card too many or too few per box is the most common counting fault on a card line. This post lists five counting and metering fault categories with their causes and the tuning fixes to clear them fast.
On a card packaging line, the box is only "right" if the count is right. One card short, one card extra, and the whole pack fails QA — or worse, ships to a collector who counts. Most count and metering errors on a card line come down to a few repeatable causes. Here's how our engineers trace and fix them.
1. Count Drifts High or Low (over/under per box)
2. Inconsistent Weight or Fill (boxed sets & inserts)
3. Missed Cards / Double Cards
4. Intermittent Misfeeds on Long Runs
5. Drift Over a Full Shift
Why It Matters on a Card Line
Collector boxes are sold by the exact count. A box of 60 that ships 59 or 61 means a return, a bad review and lost trust. Accurate, repeatable counting is the line between a premium pack and a scrapped lot — and it's one of the first things a buyer checks.
